2012 Brawley Lecture
"Women Prophets of God's Alternative Reign" November 12, 2012, 9:30 A.M.
Dr. Barbara Reid, Professor of New Testament Studies, Vice President and Academic Dean, the Catholic Theological Union is the 2012 Lecturer.
The lecture will explore how the prophetic speech and acts of Mary, Elizabeth, and Anna set the stage for the major themes of Luke's Gospel and foreshadow the prophetic ministry of Jesus. These scenes pose challenging questions for contemporary preachers, teachers, and catechists.
This event is free and open to the public; students and groups from congregations are welcome.
The Robert Brawley Lecture in Gospel Studies is named for Robert L. Brawley, the Albert G. McGaw Professor of New Testament Emeritus at McCormick Seminary. It was established to address key issues in gospel studies, in honor of Dr. Brawley’s work and expertise in this area of scholarship.
