Specific congregation/agency information: (Mission Statement)Community Presbyterian Church is a fellowship of believers who seek God’s purpose,celebrate life’s passages, and humbly strive to practice Christ’s teachings.Through grace we enjoy a spiritual home where all may find respect, nurture, and shelter. We live out our love for God in service to each other, the greater community, and the world. The Community Presbyterian Church is located at the center of Clarendon Hills in Chicago’s western suburbs, less than 40 minutes from downtown via the BNSF line.  Our members are reflective of the larger community.  They are, by and large, college educated, professional people.  We have many families with children, and particularly strong programs for children and youth, including our mid-week Logos program with a current enrollment of 75 children from 2nd to 8th grade, and High School youth programs with 80 to 100 active participants.  The congregation also has a large heart for outreach and is a leader in programs for the homeless and the hungry.  Church membership is approximately 650 adults.  Our program staff includes the Pastor Dean Lindsey, the Associate Pastor Beth Hilkerbaumer, Director of Children’s ministries Cyndi Frost, and Director of Youth Ministry Deb Helms.

 B.General geographic, population, racial ethnic make-up:The congregation is largely white and English-speaking with a small percentage of non-white members.  Almost all of the members live within ten miles of the church

Position Description:

The Student Intern will have the opportunity to teach children or adults within our Logos children’s fellowship and/ or Sunday school programs, assist our Director of Youth Ministry, do some visitation within the congregation, and participate in worship leadership.  An actual list of responsibilities will be created in consultation with the student according to their abilities and calling.

From Hyde Park via car:  Take Lakeshore Dr. or I-90/94 north to I-55 (Stephenson Expwy).  Take Stephenson West to Rte 83.  Take 83 North to 55th street.  Turn right (West) on 55th street.  Take first right on Holmes St, veer left at Eastern Avenue, and in the middle of town, take right on Prospect street.  North of the train tracks, the church is at the end of the first block on your right. via train:  From Union Station in Chicago, take BNSF Aurora train to Clarendon Hills.  Walk North one block from train station to church.
