Kate Ester
Hi! My name is Kate Ester, and I am a graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary with an M.Div degree. While I’m originally from Indiana, I graduated from Hope College in Michigan with my Bachelor's degree in Social Work.
I gave a lot of thought to the seminary that I would be attending when I felt called. I knew that the diverse community at McCormick was where God wanted me. This place has helped to prepare me for ministry both in and out of the classroom. I have felt challenged in Greek and Hebrew language courses as I have rediscovered the Bible for myself and spent a year building my ministry skills as a student pastor in a Chicago area church as part of a class. I have also had wonderful opportunities outside of the classroom: worshipping together as a community on Wednesdays, laughter and conversations at Study Breaks and Grill Nights, and weekly kickball with the Deacons in the Spring. While Chicago was completely new to me when I came here, this community has become my home.
I love being with people, drinking Dr. Pepper, organizing anything and everything, and enjoying the outdoors…well until I learned about Chicago winters and then I started enjoying the indoors.
