The Presidential Search Process

This update is to both inform you on the Presidential Search Committees activities the past few weeks and to solicit your assistance at this critical point in the search process.

After gathering input from McCormick’s key constituencies and using that information to develop the seminary and presidential profiles, the search process is now in full swing.  The position announcement has been sent to a variety of church and higher education publications and websites that advertise presidential positions and also is posted on the McCormick website.

Search committee members are personally calling individuals across the country identified as good sources of information on potential candidates.  In addition, we are sending letters to approximately 3,500 churches, alumni, and others requesting their help in the candidate identification process.

McCormick alumni/ae were very helpful in shaping the profile for the next president earlier this fall.  Now we need your help once again by identifying strong potential candidates for this position. Copies of the presidential profile and the McCormick profile are available for download.

If you know of someone you believe would be an excellent candidate for McCormick’s presidency, please send the following information to or feel free to directly contact a member of the search committee:

  • Nominee’s name including title
  • Nominee’s current position
  • Contact information – preferably email and mailing addresses and phone number
  • Brief background information indicating why this person is a good candidate for this position

For those of you who already sent us names of potential candidates, thank you. We will be contacting these nominees in the near future.

The success of this search relies on our collective efforts as we seek to carry out God’s will for the future of McCormick Seminary.
