B-300 - Introduction to Biblical Studies

The books we will ask you to buy for this course include a Study Bible based on a different translation from the translation in the Bible you already own and are using now, and a Gospel Parallels.  But we want to advise you at the beginning of the course how to buy a Study Bible and a Gospel Parallels that best meet your needs; so we’d like to ask you to wait to buy these until the second week of the course.

Towards the second half of the semester Brueggemann will form the companion reading for Childs to take us through the latter part of the book of Isaiah. Do note that a few pages from Brueggemann have been assigned for the first class. You may wish to copy those pages from a Library copy, if possible. Around the third week of the semester, in preparation for learning exegetical method, we will begin to read Holgate and Starr. Of course, we will always be using the Bible.
