Community Description:

Established 1888 There are approximately 45 active members; 15 are 0-15 years; 10 are 16-50 years; and 20 are 50 years and older. They are a mixture of Hispanic, black and Caucasian. In addition, nearly 50 percent are physically challenged. We have those who are deaf, blind and deaf/blind. Humboldt Park Community: 250 blocks with boundaries Central Park to the West; Damen to the East; Chicago Avenue to the South and Armitage to the North. Racial-ethnic profile is 66 percent Latino; 17 percent African American; 15 percent Caucasian and 1 percent other.

Position Description:

We provide a wide variety of learning experiences. These include preaching, worship leadership, hospital visitation, working with the AA community (600 halfway house residents who are integrated into our church community), helping with the food pantry or the monthly rummage sales. We also have an active youth choir. Sign language communication skills are not necessary for this position. We are a small mission oriented congregation with warm hearts and a loving spirit.

Saint John UCC is located between 1900 North and 2400 West. Take 55 Garfield Bus west to Dan Ryan train North to Jackson; Go downstairs and walk one block to Dearborn Subway to O’Hare train and get off on Western Avenue. Walk one block south and a half block west on Moffat.
