Stephanie Perdew VanSlyke is currently the Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at First Congregational Church in Wilmette, Illinois. She is also a Ph.D. candidate at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Stephanie is a graduate of Garrett-Evangelical Seminary (MDiv. 1996). Her B.A. is from Saint Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota. She has taught at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, the University of Chicago, and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. She has served the First Congregational Church in Wilmette since 1996.

Course Description:
Planning and presiding at Christian worship is a basic craft of Christian ministry, no matter whether the context is a local parish, hospital chapel, seminary congregation, summer camp or social justice setting. Through course readings, writing, discussion and practicum, students will develop a knowledge of the history of Christian worship, an ability to analyze and critique Christian ritual, facility at planning for worship services that are historically grounded and theologically coherent, and confidence in presiding with hospitality, conviction and integrity.
