This course is an exploration in the development of Christianity in Latin America and the Caribbean covering the periods of colonialism and emancipation.  A major emphasis will be placed on two fundamental projects of evangelizing:  Roman Catholic and Protestant.  We will use the documents of both experiences to analyze not only the historical events of the church, but also the ecclesiology, as well as the anthropologies that are used in their practices.  The course will look to evaluate how the history of the church in Latin American and the Caribbean continue giving form to the unique character of the Latin@ churches in North America
