Community Description:

The Kirk of the Lakes is God’s people in this place and time, called by Jesus Christ, infused with the Holy Spirit, worshiping, learning, and serving together in love for the world. We are called by and for GRACE: Glorify God; Reach outward and inward; Advance God’s Kingdom; Communicate the Gospel; Educate people of all ages.

We are a small church with approximately 100 members. Worship and Christian Education is for all ages. We host the Wee Kirk pre-school, the Boy Scouts, and Alcoholics Anonymous. We also participate in hunger assistance programs.

We are a middle class congregation with a great mix of workmen, some professionals and some management. Our multi-cultural congregation includes an interracial family, African Americans and Latin@ members.

Position Description:

Our Learning/Serving Opportunities include a full-range of pastoral and teaching roles. You will preach and serve as liturgist in scheduled rotations; you will assist and teach in Christian Education settings with all ages: Adult, High School, and Confirmation classes. You will also be included in pastoral visitation and care.

Our pastor and your supervisor is the Rev. Robert L. Crall. Pastor Bob earned his B.A. at Westminster College, PA, in 1976. He graduated with his M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1979. Pastor Bob served as pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Catasauqua, PA, from 1979 to 1984. He served as a U.S. Navy Chaplain from 1984 to 2008 and was installed at Kirk of the Lakes in December, 2009.

From Hyde Park, you’ll find us by taking I-94 north toward Milwaukee. Exit at Illinois Route 176, and head west to Mundelein. Take the left fork shortly after you pass St. Mary’s University onto Hawley Street. Cross Route 45, continue and cross Midlothian. The church is just west of the high school.
