Congratulations Dr. Yamada!
I am thanking God with you for yet another accomplishment in your life. I know that you will do well in your new assignment because of your kind heart, concern for the betterment of others, and your zeal to help make this world a better place to live in through knowledge. May God bless you in all your endeavors.

Dear McCormick Sisters and Brothers,
Since there is no RSVP "regrets" box, I do want you to know that if I could I would be there! But I am unable to be there… and say this truly with regret. Thank you for the Light that keeps shining forth from McCormick. Blessings from my heart to all of you and especially to Frank Yamada. Inaugurals aren't just about the beginning terms of a president… they are always inaugurals on many levels … and may Shekinah/Sophia/Spirit be moving in it all. May you and we all keep "listening" (ah, shema!) to all of it and in all of it and through all! As Kate McIlhagga writes in Around a Thin Place: An Iona Pilgrimage Guide by Jane Bentley and Neil Paynter,
"Disturber"
Disturbing stranger,
you call and we follow.
You call, and we leave behind
the nets of our past lives;
the things that bound and held us;
our old selves and our regrets.
For calling and disturbing,
for surprising and making new,
for moving us towards wholeness,
we thank you Lord.
Your sister in contagious blessings of Christ's joyfully rampant, life-transforming and real Spirit -

Because I trust concerning this, that he who has begun good work in you will accomplish that until the day of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, Pilippians 1:6. While I’m not one to quote scripture, this came to mind, and I find it fitting, because I too believe that a good work is about to begin within and among you, and that it may not be fully realized unitl that day. I will be proud to be there to mark its beginning.

Frank,
My best wishes for a wonderful inauguration - and for a great continuation of your presidency, which is already off to such a good start. I'm really sorry that I'll not be present, but I'll be traveling, as one of the leads on a delegation to better understand the human-rights situation and work of the Presbyterian Church in Colombia, South America. In a group of ten (leads and participants), we'll have six McCormick alums - so we'll be thinking of you!

Thank you for the invitation to join you for this important occasion! Unfortunately, being in Aotearoa New Zealand, I can't just jump in my car and come along - though I'd love to. May God's richest blessings be upon you - and McCormick - as you dream dreams, see visions and open yourselves to God working them out through you. Kia kaha! Work with courage, for it is important work you do.
