Bio

A Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Virstan is adjunct faculty for Master of Divinity courses on racism, Doctor of Ministry courses in culturally-attentive church leadership and conflict management, and Executive Leadership Certificate seminars in adaptive change, collaboration in voluntary associations, and transformative conflict.

In addition to previous service as Interim Director of the Center for Asian American Ministries and Visiting Professor of Ministry at McCormick, he has also served as pastor of an urban Asian American congregation, presbytery executive staff, seminary administrator and faculty, and church consultant.  His anti-racism efforts have included local and global involvements through denominational bodies such as the PC(USA) Council on Church and Race and ecumenical bodies such as the World Council of Churches’ Program to Combat Racism.
