We are looking for gifted and spirit-filled candidates for our next Associate Pastor for Family Ministry and Campus Ministry. This position is set in our dynamic congregational culture of life-long formation. In fact, the associate pastor will be a key team member of our participation in the Myrtle Collaboration funded by the Lilly Endowment.
This college town offers a host of opportunities on campus and in the community for all ages of family members.
The associate pastor will supply primary leadership in the areas of Family and Campus Ministry. He/she will lead youth mission teams, confirmation classes, adult education classes, and regularly assist in leading worship. The associate pastor should have a keen awareness of various faith resources and of the cultures in which they may best be used. Preaching the Word of God is expected to challenge the congregation intellectually and to help equip the varied members for daily life. The associate pastor is expected to develop alternative worship styles and inter-generational activities.
Our largest area of ministry and mission is the Miami campus. The associate pastor is to develop a varied, vibrant campus ministry, an initiative that, through student leadership the past two years, has experienced renewal.
The associate pastor will aid the pastor in visitations for hospital calls, crisis visits and other service activities as needed. She/he will train and then involve members in pastoral care.
The associate pastor will coordinate service leadership with the pastor, including serving as primary pastor on given Sundays, resourcing committee meetings and facilitating them when needed. He/she will preach and officiate at weddings, funerals and baptisms when designated.
The associate pastor will engage the congregation and community with joy, passion and authenticity on the spiritual inward journey and the missional outward journey.
