Curriculum Director and Teacher for all Sunday School programs pre K – 6th grade
Job Title: Christian Ed Director
Trinity seeks a person who has a solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith and United Methodist traditions (or a willingness to learn) combined with a strong desire to nurture young people in this Christian faith. The person should have a high level of energy and an exciting, energetic and igniting personality with the ability to model Christ in all walks of life.
The Christian Ed Director is a staff position accountable to the Staff Parish Committee of Trinity United Methodist Church and will be under the immediate supervision of the Pastor and will report periodically to the Church Council.
We are looking for a person who will work well in a multicultural environment and will nurture a spirit of unity throughout the entire congregation. This position requires a person who is a team player and has the ability to develop leadership skills with 10 -15 in the Trinity Youth Group.
The position will provide five (5) to ten (10) hours of compensable services to Trinity each with the exception of four events such as vacation bible school, a fall event and two holiday events (Christmas and Easter). These four events will require additional hours. The Christian Ed Director shall be paid a monthly stipend for all hours provided to Trinity. The Christian Ed Director is required to be at Trinity on Sunday’s from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The balance of the hours will include planning time as well as attending outside ministry events such as youth gatherings, special events, Christian Education Meetings, etc.
General Responsibilities:
1. Manage and direct the leadership of the youth group and Sunday School curriculum.
2. Help train, nurture and develop youth leaders from among the congregation and in the community to volunteer in youth programs.
3. Plan and execute current ministry programs while working with the youth, Pastor and Christian Education leadership to maintain age appropriate activities for all youth that promote community through fellowship, fun, spiritual growth and Christian discipleship.
4. To teach Sunday School class for the youth on Sunday mornings.
5. Plan and execute curriculum development for the entire Sunday School program (preschool through high school).
6. Plan and execute four (4) events throughout the year. Such as: Easter, Christmas, Vacation Bible School and Rally Day.
7. Encourage young people to participate in all facets of the life of the community of faith.
Qualifications:
Experience/Education – completed some college courses
Vocation – a calling to ministry
Clean driving record and private transportation is required.
