Director of Youth and Family Ministries

Full-Time, Non-Ordained

First Presbyterian Church of Rensselaer, Indiana, is embarking on a redevelopment effort. We have identified an unmet need for ministry to young couples in particular and young people in general. One successful initiative has been a casual worship service every Sunday evening.

The Director of Youth and Family Ministries is a non-ordained position. The person we are looking for has the initiative and imagination to define and build a youth and family ministry from scratch. We would like for the Director to start in Fall 2011. The position reports to me: I have ben the pastor since 2006. Compensation, including medical benefits, is negotiable.

Rensselaer is a small city of 5,500, the seat of Jasper County, largely agricultural. It is the home of St. Joseph's, a 4-year liberal arts college. The city is 90 miles southeast of Chicago and 90 miles northwest of Indianapolis. West Lafayette, home of Purdue University, is 45 minutes away.

Frist Presbyterian Church is the only PC(USA) congregation within a 30 mile radius of Rensselaer. Founded in 1847, and in its present downtown location since 1897, First Presbyterian has 109 members. It is known for its benevolence and music.

Interested candidates may submit personal profiles to my attention at our physical address, 220 N. Cullen St., Rensselaer, IN 47978, or my email address, pastor@firstpresrensselaer.org. Our CIF may be found under Church #02161.

We will begin interviewing candidates before Labor Day, 2011.

Sincerely,

Gerald Egger
Minister of Word and Sacrament
