Eagle River Presbyterian Church
“Journeying Together to Know Christ and to Make Christ Known”
Eagle River Presbyterian Church traces it roots to the late 1800’s as the first church to be chartered in Eagle County, Colorado. Now in its third location, Avon 10 minutes west of Vail and at the base of Beaver Creek Resort, we are home to a growing congregation of about 140 members. As with any church in a resort town, we have many one-time visitors, seasonal visitors and affiliate members. Ours is a vibrant congregation whose members have taken on a variety of ministry opportunities ranging from international mission to serving a weekly meal. Our building provides low rent space for non-profits, meeting space for recovery and other support groups, as well as our many small group ministries. Ours is a congregation that strives to take seriously Christ’s commandment to walk a mile with a neighbor.
We are offering a nine to fourteen month internship beginning in the summer of 2011 with the purpose of providing an opportunity to participate in ministries that will develop the intern’s vocation and to expand the ministry of our growing church.
Duties would include:
Preach 8-12 times over the year
Lead one weekly Bible Study
Teach 4-6 week module in Sunday Adult CE class
Assist with pastoral visitation under the supervision of the pastor
Lead a weekly youth class/ youth group meeting
Attend all meetings of the Session and weekly staff meetings
Other possible opportunities depending on the interest of the intern are organizing a youth or adult mission trip, leading a church fellowship event, assisting with church outreach events, assisting in membership classes, attending presbytery meetings or organizing a church-wide weekend retreat.
A stipend of $1,000 per month will be offered.
Housing accommodations: we offer a two-bedroom condo located in Avon, Colorado.
The intern will be directly supervised and mentored by the pastor with the support of the session.
Applicants are welcome from all Christian denominations but must be sympathetic to the doctrines of the reformed church, the PCUSA, and of ERPC.
To apply, please submit a resume, 2 references, and a letter outlining your reasons for applying, what you hope to gain from the internship, and sense of calling to Christian ministry.
