As a large, dynamic congregation in a world-class university city, First Pres Ann Arbor, Michigan, seeks an energetic Interim Director of Youth and Family Ministries (IDYFM) to provide leadership over the full spectrum of faith formation for young people and families. The IDYFM will work in partnership with the young people themselves, as well as with parents, church staff and adult volunteer leaders to ignite the light of God and a heart for service in each young disciple. The young people at First Pres are the church of today, as well as the church of tomorrow and beyond, and we seek an IDYFM who embraces their contributions, talents and ideas.
The Interim Director of Youth & Family Ministries will guide all aspects of ministry with middle school and high school young people and their families. The emphasis at First Pres will be on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, establishing healthy relationships, offering opportunities for young people to grow in faith, crafting vital and effective programs and forging connections between young people and the congregation-at- large of First Presbyterian Church. Responsibilities include: youth programming for faith formation, leadership development, mentoring, communications, pastoral care and administration. Applicants who are passionate and knowledgeable about youth ministry, have an innovative, compassionate spirit, are highly relational with both parents and young people, can work effectively with a large church leadership team and are able to take initiative should apply.
