Mountainburg Presbyterian Church strives to reach all persons of the community by assisting in various outreach activities with a goal to build a community that serves the Lord and cares for one another in tangible ways. The church is called to be the light of Christ in the community through Word and Deed so the lost can be found, the hurting helped, the hungry fed, the mourning comforted, the broken-hearted healed and hope shared with every generation.
We care for struggling individuals and families in a monthly food pantry. We participate in local school-based programs geared toward meeting the needs of underprivileged children by participation in the back-pack program, socks and shoes program and the Angel Tree. We remind the community in a live nativity that Christmas is about baby Jesus. We participate with the other churches in the community to provide a Thanksgiving potluck dinner for the community. The Presbyterian Women's group hosts an annual teachers appreciation breakfast to encourage school faculty and joins in the annual school prayer walk. We host an annual Easter egg hunt so the children can receive goodies and hear the resurrection story.
We do our best to provide a fun filled atmosphere of learning through Bible study, singing, crafts, snacks and fellowship in our Summer Bible School (VBS). We donate to and host the annual 4th of July fireworks display put on by the fire department by providing parking, beverages and desserts as people sit on the church lawn. We join the rotation of local churches by hosting or participating in the quarterly hymn sings to promote Christian unity within the community.
Mountainburg Presbyterian Church is searching for a mature pastor who seeks to serve and lead the flock of this church. While MPC is a small congregation we are large in activities. Our hope is to find a pastor who will embrace these activities and be an active member of the community. This long history of our church is closely tied to the Mountainburg school and we desire to have a pastor who will support school activities.
MPC seeks a teaching minister who can spread the word of God by relating to all ages and making connections to real life experiences. MPC seeks a minister who is prayerful in God's word, a minister who can inspire and lead the congregation and can encourage each person's spiritual gifts.
