A welcoming ministry supporting church and community is desired. We envision and investment in evangelism and members needs. Support of youth and small group programs, and membership development or young adults /families are part of our vision as we speak congregational growth. Nurture of the spirituality of our community through cohesive worship based on sound biblical teaching with quality musical support is valued. Pastoral leadership to the church staff and committees and pastoral contact/visitation to all members is desired. Outreach through ecumenical engagement is valued by our church.
We live our vision through member support and participation. Our congregation works together with enthusiasm and compassion. Respect for our differences contribute to our relationships. Our church has a long history of inclusion and celebration of diverse cultures. From 1964 to the present, we have welcomed families from India, Southeast Asia, Sudan and Latin America. Various innovative ministry opportunities have been supported to meet the needs of these groups. Active stewardship is present, with time, talents and treasures shared. Members are active volunteers; using their talents for the better of Storm Lake, with a strong community emphasis.
Active groups in our church reflect how we live out our vision. We have adult stud groups and fellowship opportunities, Pre-K through school youth groups, mission trips, stewardship/service projects, and an active music program.
Lakeside strives to be an accepting, welcoming church where needs are met and the joy of loving and serving God is known. We offer a place where all can know their worth through God’s grace and be a valued member of the body of Christ. Our services and programs are inclusive.
Lakeside responds with word and deed to its constituency and the community. Local, national and global needs are supported with prayers, financial assistance and hands-on work. South Sudanese and Laotian members frequently hold special services here; our doors are open for nonprofit organizations/social services meetings.
