The Highlands Presbyterian Church is committed to the ministry of Jesus Christ. Our congregation possesses vitality and energy beyond our numbers. We value worship, Christian education, mission outreach, fellowship and music. We hold in great regard our traditional Presbyterian worship service, including our accomplished choir.

Our almost 70-year presence in the LaGrange Highlands community is the cornerstone of our strong sense of family and supports our long-term commitments to one another. Our congregation is filled with compassionate and caring people. Additionally, our congregation is so friendly with one another that we often need to be encouraged to sit down after the “Passing of the Peace.” After worship, the weekly time of fellowship provides a meaningful time to welcome newcomers and strengthen family ties.

Externally, we share the love of Jesus through mission outreach, within and beyond the community, and through fellowship functions.  While regularly searching for new opportunities to create and grow disciples and meet human needs, we treasure our established efforts.

Highlands values our representative form of church government that is reflected in its election of Deacons and Elders, and its practice of serving the monthly Communion symbolizing the power of the church residing in the people.

The primary role of our pastor will be as a leader to help our church achieve our mission.

The majority of the members of our congregation are seniors. Generally, our members are well-educated and few families have children under 25 living at home. Our new pastor should enjoy seniors and be sensitive to their needs, including pastoral care for those with personal and family needs, and home and hospital visitations.

The congregation is undergoing change and expects our new pastor to lead and inspire our members to achieve parish revitalization; as such, he/she must be comfortable with uncertainty and change.  Additionally, the congregation expects the new pastor to provide fresh perspectives to reach new people and strengthen relationships with our mission partners.

We wish to be served by an individual who is experienced, warm, caring and compassionate.  Integrity is key.
