We share a Vision where individuals and families grow in spirit and their relationship with God, a place where we learn to better serve God’s whole community.

In love and obedience to God, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, our mission is to:

  • Reach past ourselves to those whom God has placed around us
  • Draw them into the adventure of the Christian faith
  • Learn together to follow Jesus with joyful devotion, and
  • Go out as changed people transforming our world for our Triune God

We invite you to review our MIF #: 07163.AA0 at the Church Leadership Connection.

Service to others has long been a fundamental focus of our congregation. Newport is a tight-knit, cultural, and active community with varied interests including outdoor recreation, performing arts, marine activities, and many civic groups. Our church and members tap into that by being very involved, with many holding board positions, throughout local organizations and activities. Our congregation believes that serving others and volunteering in our community is essential to our mission. One example is our Presbyterian Women’s group who puts on an annual, large-scale rummage sale at our Church with sales benefiting non-profit service groups in our community. We also offer our church as a central open meeting place where members and non-members can feel comfortable to gather for meaningful exchanges. Groups who use our facility on a regular basis are: AFS & Rotary Youth Exchange, Newport Symphony, Coastalaires, Women of Note, persons teaching various lessons to children in the area, and many more. We also have a longstanding Co-op preschool, Mouse Factory, housed in our Church.

Our church’s foundation has been formed on a strong, caring, and giving congregation with meaningful, inspirational worship. We seek an individual who can build upon the already wonderful aspects of our congregation, with fresh perspective, and publicly strengthen our multi-generational congregation. Newport is a community of opportunity for the pastor to reach outside the church and draw people to our congregation by getting involved in the community. We see our future pastor as integral to the continued spiritual growth of our members and essential to leading our adventure in Christian faith through knowledge and connection with the congregation. There is opportunity at our church to bring along the members with creative ideas of how to strengthen fellowship and ignite our passion for Christ in our everyday lives while keeping the core of our congregation’s foundation. Financial knowledge and stability, current ideas and flexibility along with membership growth is essential. We seek these attributes to further our mission goals and create a thriving membership.
