C. Robert (Bob) Ploger, died on November 24, 2017 in Dallas, TX. Clemens Robert Ploger was born in Chicago, IL on May 1, 1925, to parents Fred Joseph and Ruth Kuehne Ploger. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carolyn Ploger Skillman. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Chamblee Ploger and his son Jeffrey Keith Ploger both of Dallas, TX and his nephew John Douglas Skillman of Gurnee, IL. Bob grew up in Evanston, IL, after graduation from Evanston Township High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in England and France 3 years during World War II.
He attended Lake Forest College in Illinois, from 1946-1949, graduating with a degree in business. He graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in 1950. In 1953 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Chamblee of Port Arthur, TX, whom he met at a church square dance. They enjoyed many years of square dancing as members of Buttons and Bows in Algonquin, IL, and Highland Swingers and Right Angle Squares in Dallas where they moved in 1962. Bobs’ business experience included insurance sales and management in Illinois and Texas, followed by 25 years in personnel recruiting in Dallas. He was a Boy Scout Master, an ordained deacon, and an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, and a lifetime member of the Garden Club of Dallas (formerly First Men’s Garden Club) where he remained active from 1978 to his death.
