The Rev. Dr. Lorrin Arthur Kreider (M.Div., 1955) died on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012. He was born the son of Herman and Hettie Shoup Kreider in Istanbul, Turkey. on Jan. 1, 1930.
He was a graduate of Wooster High School, the College of Wooster, McCormick Theological Seminary, and the San Francisco Theological Seminary. Dr. Kreider served as a Presbyterian minister for congregations in Illinois (Willow Springs, Mt. Zion and DeKalb) and Ohio (Athens and Worthington). He also served as an interim minister in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Ithaca, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hettie; a sister, Loretta Kreider Andrews; a brother, Maynard Lincoln Kreider; and a special friend, Marlene Patterson.
He is survived by Nancy Barnes Kreider of Encinitas, Calif., who was his wife for 50 years; a sister, Irma Kreider Blum of Philadelphia; four children, David of Grand Canyon, Ariz., Philip (Nalia) of Redway Calif., Laura of Athens, and Mark (Jody) of Orange, Calif.; grandchildren, Sierra Meek of Nelsonville, Ohio, Dylan Mullins of Athens and Nhyeleti of Redway; and great-grandchildren, Shane and Logan Meek of Nelsonville.
