We have heard from Alumnus Tom Arthur, who shared that he retired in 2009 in the United Kingdom after twenty some years working with the United Reformed Church through the PCUSA Worldwide Mission program. Tom retired from his ministry at City United Reformed Church in Cardiff, which in his tenure became the only Open and Affirming church (so far) in Wales, and developed an award-winning program called Asylum Justice, which provides pro bono legal support to asylum seekers.

Tom still teaches New Testament Greek and New Testament studies at the university. In addition to post-retirement teaching, he works with a community mental health centre in Cardiff’s Somali community and enjoys life with his five grandchildren.
