A study of the emergence of the Christian Church in its three centuries. We read and discuss primary sources in
translation. Close attention will be given to the development of the major themes of the Christian communities within the social and institutional structures of the Late Antique period. This course examines the ways in which Christians related to the world around them, with a special focus on the diversity of doctrine and practice of the early church, to provide resources for contemporary ministry informed by the wisdom of the early church. This course seeks and to introduce students to methods and resources to study the early church.
