My name is Deloris L. Harris and I am a recent graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary. I began my studies in the M. Div program in September 2009. I have been in ministry with my husband for over 25 years so it was not hard for me to decide to come to seminary. I just needed to decide where to attend seminary. I am so glad that after prayerful thought and consideration God led me here to McCormick.
I love it here at McCormick because I have found a family away from home in the students and staff. My husband and I came to Chicago in 2000 from St. Louis, Missouri which is our home. All our family is there but a ministry assignment brought us here to Chicago. We had no family here and did not know anyone here so we considered our church family as our family. Now I have another family my McCormick comrades.
The diversity of students, staff, and professors and the caring and sharing attitudes they present makes McCormick a wonderful place to learn. I have found that the students, staff, and professors are some of the best people in the world. Not only have I learned a lot about other cultures but I have been able to share a lot from my own culture. The teaching staff at McCormick is second to none. There are some of the greatest professors and lecturers that can be found anywhere teaching here.
Preaching and teaching God’s word is my passion. I serve as pastor of Oasis Christian Ministries International, Evanston, IL., and I teach the adult Sunday School class. I also serve as mentor and spiritual advisor to our associate ministerial staff. If you have any questions or concerns that I can help you with please do not hesitate to contact me via email. I am here to serve and to help.
