Paula Hiebert has been teaching in the Chicago area since her family moved here in 1995. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Catholic Theological Union, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and McCormick Theological Seminary. In addition to teaching in the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University, she has also offered courses in the undergraduate Theology department at Loyola. Before moving to Chicago, Paula taught at Boston College, Emmanuel College, Stonehill College, Louisiana State University, and Salve Regina College.
Paula holds a B.A. degree from Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island, a M.A. degree in Theology from the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto, and M.T.S. and Th.D. degrees in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament from Harvard University.
In the area of adult religious education and spiritual renewal, Paula has taught classes in the archdiocese of Chicago and the diocese of Joliet, at the Institute for Adult Spiritual Renewal, and at the Theological Institute, St. Norbert’s College. Together with her husband, Ted, who teaches Old Testament at McCormick Theological Seminary, she has offered adult education classes at several Presbyterian churches in the Chicago area.
Her research interests include the Pentateuch and ancient Israelite women, especially in their roles as mother and widow.
