The Rev. Bartlett, 93, passed away following emergency surgery on May 16, 2013.
He and his late wife Doris Wolff Bartlett had been residents of the Penney Farms Retirement Community in Penny Farms, FL, since 2002 where he played an active leadership role.
He worked as a chemist in Louisville, Kentucky for Dupont during WWII and afterward for Raymond Laboratories in St. Paul, Minnesota before entering McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. He served churches in Illinois (Kansas, Gardiner and Hanover Park) and in New York State (Utica, Ilion, and Syracuse). He continued his ministry as a Correctional Counselor for the Illinois State Prison in Peoria. Following retirement, he and Doris served as Volunteers in Mission at Lees College in eastern Kentucky before moving to Lake Winnott in Hawthorne, Florida. He was active in Faith Presbyterian Church of Melrose, Florida. He served for fifteen years as a volunteer tax counselor for AARP, and was a long-time volunteer in the PET shop at Penney Farms. Charles Bartlett is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, by 11 grandchildren, 8 foster grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
