Stephanie Perdew VanSlyke is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. A native of
Dr. VanSlyke serves on the board of the Liturgical Conference, which publishes the journal Liturgy. She is in the midst of a second three-year term as the convener of the Early History of Liturgy Seminar of the North American Academy of Liturgy. With Marlea Gilbert, Christopher Grundy and Eric Myers, she is the author of The Work of the People: What We Do in Worship and Why (The Alban Institute, 2007). Her scholarly research focuses on the history of early Christian liturgy and women’s ministerial leadership in the pre-Nicene church.
Dr. VanSlyke has served as the Lilly Teaching Fellow in the Arts of Ministry in Worship at the University of Chicago Divinity School and currently serves on the adjunct faculties of Garrett-Evangelical and McCormick Theological Seminary.
