Join a community of African American, Asian American, and Latin@ pastors and church leaders for meaningful conversation, mutual support, Sabbath, and fellowship. The Common Ground Project hope this cohort will help develop modes of support and interaction within Asian American, African American, and Latino/a church communities. The commitment will span the length of time between the February and August gatherings. Applications are available at the bottom of this page and from email@example.com . Those accepted to the program will receive a stipend for their participation.
Taste of Seminary Seminar at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago

The Seminar will gather a group of African American, Asian American, and Latin@ young adults curious about theological education. They will be accompanied by a multiracial team of scholars and church leaders, who will plan and facilitate a culturally sensitive seminar. The seminar will provide young adults with an experience meant to aid in their discernment of their call and prepare them to engage faith and ministry critically. This Seminar will build on experience gathered through the preceding AADVENT (Asian American Discipleship for Vocational Empowerment, Nurture and Transformation) Project Taste of Seminary, which was transformative for participants and leadership alike.

The Common Ground will host two Young Adult Conferences in 2010 in Chicago, the first from July 9-11 and the second August 13-15, giving busy young adults two options. The Conferences will gather a group of African American, Asian American, and Latin@ young adults (ages 18-35) curious about faith, cross-cultural conversation, and learning with a diverse group of leaders. They will be accompanied by a multiracial team of leaders, both lay and ordained. The Conference experience will provide young adults with an experience meant to aid them as they explore and develop vocational and spiritual discernment for Christian leadership. The registration fee is $35 for registrations postmarked on or before June 1, 2010, $50 for registrations postmarked after June 1, 2010. Includes housing, food, and program. Travel scholarships are available.
