McCormick Theological Seminary Hires New Communications Coordinator


Michele Y. Edwards (M.Div., Class of 2011) accepts the position of Communication Coordinator.

Michele has a distinguished background in communications and public relations, which includes serving as press secretary for the Detroit Public School System. Her work experience includes executive leadership in the areas of marketing and communications. Michele is a candidate for ordination in the United Church of Christ.

As the new Communications Coordinator, Michele will be working under the supervision of the President, where she will implement and develop a comprehensive program of communications and public relations for the seminary, which will include electronic and print publications, publicity for the seminary, media relations, and coverage of special events. She will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the communications office, and will be part of and facilitate a team of communicators across the seminary. She will also focus on highlighting the people—alums, faculty, leaders, and donors—that make our seminary great. Other responsibilities will include: preparing materials for and assisting in the maintenance of the website; managing a production schedule; handling the placement of advertising; and working with relevant vendors and consultants.

Though she will be working remotely for her initial weeks of transition, she begins her time as Communications Coordinator with us this week—the week of January 23rd. Welcome, Michele.
