Embrace the sacred rhythm of "Created to Rest" at our 2025 Formation Week. An opportunity to step away from the relentless pace of life and answer God's gentle call to replenish your mind, body, and spirit. Delve into the profound importance of rest, exploring its transformative power and the wisdom of Scripture, where even the Creator paused to honor the sanctity of renewal.

“On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing; He rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken.
God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.

Genesis 2:2-3

GUIDES FOR REST

Throughout Formation Week, join us as we pursue a daily practice of rest designed to help you…

  • Practice the restorative benefits of Rest as we uncover the biblical call and intention for God to Rest in the creation story.

  • Reveal our ancestral accountability to rest and how it may help to restore buried/hidden traumas in our community.

  • Introduce tools and share wisdoms that promote realization, restoration, and healing.

The first Formation Week at McCormick Theological Seminary took place in April 2024. During this time, we intentionally paused to reflect on our sense of call and formation as students, faculty, and staff. The Trauma Healing Initiative and the Office of Student Support collaborated to create a unique program centered around the theme of "RESTfull." A variety of resources were shared during the week, which we are pleased to share with you.
