At Community Presbyterian Church we embrace a ministry that celebrates the grace and love of Jesus Christ! We are an open, affirming, and transformational place where all are welcome to share in God’s love.
We endeavor to live the life God planned for us by giving and receiving care and support through personal relationships.
We are a compassionate church family that celebrates our congregants’ good news and shares their sorrows.
Group ministry is present in the adult education classes, Sunday School is offered for children when they are present. The book club met monthly until Covid - 19 restrictions ended our gatherings.
Member care is a significant component of our ministry. The “Care and Concern” list is updated as members check on one another. The care card ministry remembers people who are ill or have suffered a loss.
Music is a strong point of our ministry. We are grateful for the musicians and choir members who enrich our services with music.
Liturgy and symbolism are ways we can provide a ministry to those who seek stability and feel a need to belong to a larger tradition. We strive to create an environment that connects history with a more current expectation.
As the average age of our congregation is 70+, we face the task of meeting our current members’ needs while attracting new members of all ages. We aim to rejuvenate our committees and organizational structure to meet these challenges.
Community Presbyterian Church in Mt. Prospect is yearning to embody the mission of Jesus by putting faith into action. We are a community of believers who seek to welcome, love, respect and provide for all who want to be part of our church family, whether that be as a member, visitor, casual participant, or community member.
We wish to be open to our community in all ways. We will continue to serve our community by providing a Parents Day Out (PDO) program for preschool children in a loving Christian environment. We will continue to provide meeting space for not for profit groups like the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and emerging Christian congregations.
Our mission outreach is centered around the five denomination offerings. We will continue to serve our world through programs established by the Presbyterian Mission Agency, One Great Hour of Sharing, the Shriners Hospital, and our local food bank as well as local concerns such as Higher Up Ministry.
Technology is a tool for Community Presbyterian Church in Mt. Prospect to extend our reach out into the community. We implemented an ongoing digital dialog with our community through Facebook and other social media outlets. On-line ministry is primarily educational and focused on seekers with in our community. Our digital ministry now includes weekly broadcasting of our Sunday morning worship as well as continuing education and meeting opportunities.
Our next pastor will help our congregation reconfirm our denominational linkages.
Our next pastor will provide leadership, inspiration, motivation, coordination and spiritual guidance for the daily tasks necessary to achieve our goal of remaining a vital congregation. He or she will spearhead the development of a strategic plan for the future..

This person will be an advocate and ambassador for our church within the community and engage in inter-religious dialogue. The pastor will support and enhance the church’s outreach to the community.
