1. How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

Through the efforts of the Associate Pastor for Family Ministry, WPC will embrace expanded opportunities for the Christian spiritual formation of our children and youth, nurture a sense of community among our families, and serve others through mission outreach.

2. Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization:

Inspirational teaching and effective communication are essential skills in organizing and directing youth and children’s ministries. Because worship is at the heart of our life together, we seek an Associate Pastor who is an effective worship leader. We welcome someone who is detail oriented, takes initiative, and collaborates with ease. We seek someone who is flexible, creative, and has an open, welcoming spirit.

3. What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?

  • Work with the Family Ministry Committee to plan and implement a program for the senior high youth including fellowship, Bible study, service and an annual mission trip.

  • Plan and implement the Confirmation program for the junior high youth.

  • Oversee and collaborate with the Director for Children’s Ministry to plan Sunday school, Bridges Midweek Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, and Children of Abraham Interfaith Fellowship.

  • Serve as staff liaison with the Westminster Cooperative Preschool.

  • Share with professional staff in the development of inspirational and meaningful worship, provide liturgical leadership on a weekly basis, and preach an assigned number of sermons.

  • Serve with the pastoral staff to provide pastoral care with particular attention to children, youth, and families.

  • Officiate at weddings, funerals, and the sacraments as invited by the Head of Staff.

  • Be a responsible member of the Presbytery of Great Rivers and other governing bodies of the PC(USA) and relate tocommunity and ecumenical organizations as time permits.

Minimum Effective Salary: $50,000
