Expectations of a Bridge Pastor include:
➔ Ordination in good standing as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament.
➔ Provide inspirational preaching on Sundays (2-3 for part-time and weekly for
full-time), including officiating communion on one of these Sundays.
➔ Moderate Session meetings and Congregational meetings.
➔ Provide pastoral leadership as needed, until our PNC is formed and has called a new
pastor. This includes accessibility to congregation members in times of spiritual need.
➔ Guide the “Next Steps Process”.
➔ Conduct baptisms, funerals, and weddings, as requested.
➔ Coordinate (well in advance of services) with music/administrative staff for worships at
which the Bridge Pastor will preach. Includes working to maintain the church
calendar, preparation of bulletin, and church communications to members and friends.
➔ Comfortable with digital technology and ability to conduct virtual meetings/worship
services/gatherings.
➔ Visit those who are hospitalized; homebound or in nursing homes on request.
➔ Participate in the life of the church family, as time permits.
Covid 19 and its sub-variants have made worship and in-person gatherings challenging in ways we could not have anticipated. However, for the time being, we are conducting in-person worships, with some church meetings taking place on Zoom. Mask-wearing while singing will continue until such time as it is deemed safe to unmask by the Wisconsin Council of Churches or our Session. Any candidate should be willing to abide by these conditions.
Presently, our Session/Board of Deacons includes five members who are gifted preachers, and as such, these rotate in the pulpit on Sundays when the Pastor is away.
Salary (compensation) to be based on experience and talents, and will meet or exceed the minimum requirements as set forth by the Presbytery of Milwaukee, including benefits, vacation, continuing education time, and continuing education and professional expenses.
