Position Summary:

The Development Coordinator is a key member of the Development team responsible for supporting the fundraising activities of Fourth Presbyterian Church and Chicago Lights. This highly visible role will report to the Director of Development and will organize, coordinate, and implement a variety of initiatives and activities to support ongoing fundraising efforts including an upcoming capital campaign. The Development Coordinator will provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to internal and external constituents in a small, but dynamic fundraising office.  This opportunity is well-suited for someone interested in growing their skills and experience in fundraising who has a desire to have access and exposure to all aspects of a development program.

Salary Range: $46,000 - $48,000

Schedule:  The role is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Occasional evenings and weekend work hours may be needed.

Location: This is a hybrid role. At least two days a week in-person (Tues/Thurs required) at downtown Chicago location. Other days can either be remote or in-person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Support Development Team (approx 50%)

  • Organizes, implements, and supports fundraising programs and activities at the direction of the Development Director and in collaboration with the Development team and other key stakeholders to advance the strategic priorities of the Development department.

  • Supports the functioning of the Development department’s daily operations and tasks including participating in the weekly money count, gift entry, gift acknowledgement, and other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Assists with external communications.

  • Conducts prospect research and gathers information to support work with major donors.

  • Writes occasional acknowledgements and other donor related correspondence.

Administration & Donor Relations (approx 50%)

  • Makes arrangements for various meetings and events with donors, boards, staff, and volunteer committee. Manages all necessary logistics including scheduling, coordinating people and resources, providing administrative support and follow-up.

  • Ensures all gifts are acknowledged in a timely manner.

  • Organizes and updates materials and reports.

  • Serves as a liaison for all levels of staff, donors, congregation members, and volunteers.

  • Maintains Raisers Edge, ensuring that all donor information is accurate and up-to-date.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Experience with database management (must know how to mail merge, work in Excel, build queries etc.)

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office

  • Strong attention to detail

Desired: 

  • Experience in fundraising, volunteer management, events management, or office administration desired.

  • Ability to relate to and interact with all congregation members, colleagues, and other staff members in a positive way that results in cooperation, mutual respect, and common benefit.

  • A demonstrated ability:

    • To act independently, organize workload, set priorities, work well under deadline pressure, and adapt to change.

    • To develop a systematic approach to carrying out assignments with clear and measurable outcomes; prioritize objectives with supervisor direction and coordinating multiple activities.

    • To change approaches or methods based upon circumstances to achieve the desired results.

    • To relate to and interact with all congregation members, colleagues, and other staff members in a positive way that results in cooperation, mutual respect, and common benefit.

    • To handle high-stress situations with calm competence.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including collaborative tools like Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Experience working with database systems to manage constituent information. Raisers Edge experience is preferred.

  • Desire and aptitude for working within a faith-based and multi-cultural environment.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
