Position Overview:
Responsible for being the main pastoral presence for UVC’s online-only audience and serving as a liaison between site pastors and site members who may worship online occasionally or temporarily
Essential Responsibilities/Duties to support UVC’s Mission:
Serve as the “face at the place” for UVC’s online streaming worship
Engage with online worshipers on camera during certain times of Sunday (and special) worship services, interacting with those who comment on platforms during worship
Follow up during the week with worshipers who make their presence known or request connection/follow up (eg, who fill out welcome cards or who actively comment)
Attend to the pastoral care needs of those who worship with UVC exclusively online
Work with UVC’s Teaching Pastor to convene and potentially lead online small groups
Develop two pilot “villages” (remote, non-Chicago, locations)
Coordinate with UVC’s Director of Communication to create online evangelism opportunities using UVC’s social media channels
Support UVC’s Media Specialist to make sure the technical aspects of online worship are running smoothly
Preach occasionally
Must reside in the Chicagoland area
Essential skills:
Comfortable talking on camera, engaging online viewers
Can comment creatively and pastorally on online platforms
Solid theological training
Strong pastoral presence
Ability to relate to people from a wide range of spiritual backgrounds
Heart for evangelism and building relationships
Highly detailed and strong organizational skills
Familiar with streaming processes
Friendly and team-oriented mindset
Familiarity with online streaming platforms
Education/ Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience working in a church environment
Experience with online channels and social media
Skills/Qualifications:
Entrepreneurial spirit to build and enhance evangelism opportunities, relationships and community through technology
Clear communicator with strong spoken and written communication gifts
A self-starter
Savvy and extensive user of social media platforms
Ability to leverage technology and social media to build and grow relationships
Team oriented
Treats issues as opportunities, not barriers
Curious, Continuous learner
Student of the culture
Reports to: Teaching Pastor
Compensation: $10,000 annually
