Position reports to:
Interim Associate Pastor
Salary range:
$20/hr to $27/hr (or $600 to $810 semi-monthly)
Position Overview:
PURPOSE: Coordinate curricula, supplies, and scheduling of volunteers for all Sunday school activities ranging from nursery care through sixth grade (to include both on site and online components, depending on whether in-person church services are being held). Work with lay leaders to organize fellowship and service events for senior high youth group and communicate event information as needed.
The Sunday School Coordinator works closely with the Senior Minister, the Interim Associate Pastor, the Faith Formation Ministry, and Church staff.
Principal Accountabilities:
Communicate information to families about what is happening in Sunday school and upcoming events for senior high youth group, utilizing various media such as verbal and written announcements at Sunday services, email, text messages, social media, Church app, announcements at staff meetings, and publications in the Pilgrim newsletter
Coordinate teachers to make sure Sunday school and nursery are covered every week
Assist Sunday school teachers, making sure they have their lessons 1 week in advance, Sunday school rooms are set-up, and supplies needed for units are there (including supplies needed for recording/uploading digital content if Sunday school is online)
Meet and greet families after service
Schedule training for new Sunday school volunteers as needed
Meet regularly with lay leaders (approximately 2-4 hours per month) to organize fellowship and service events for senior high youth group
Ensure compliance with Safe Church policy for all Sunday school and senior high youth group events
Promote the church and Sunday school in the community
Attend weekly staff meetings
Abide by church staff covenant
Hours Required:
15 hrs/week including Sundays 8:00am-11:00am (when Church is meeting in person) and weekly staff meetings
90% of Sundays/year required (when Church is meeting in person)
Job Skills Required:
Excellent interpersonal skills (works well with children, parents, volunteers, and Church staff)
Excellent organizational skills (able to multi-task, prioritize, self-starter)
Knowledgeable re social media and technology needed to record/upload video content
Light lifting up to 25 pounds may be occasionally required
Educational Requirement:
Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred
Pay:
$20.00 - $27.00 per hour
