Word of Grace is a non-denominational church located in the town of Sheboygan Falls, WI about an hour north of Milwaukee. The church is led by Lead Pastor Stephen Maris who came on as the Lead Pastor a little over a year ago, though has been a pastor on staff at Word of Grace for about 10 years. The church currently has two worship gatherings that are offered at 8:45a and 10:45a, both of which are identical with a modern worship style. Attendance currently runs around 450 each Sunday for their main worship gatherings. The church also offers  online live-streaming for those who are unable to be present, as well as for those who are desiring to check out the church.

The church is extremely passionate about growing deeper in their relationship with Jesus through discipleship. Since Pastor Stephen took over as the Lead Pastor, there has been a refreshed focus and vision for the church and a deeper sense of team input on staff. The chemistry on staff has never been healthier as they strive to push each other to grow spiritually and closer together as a team.

The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship & Creative Arts Pastor to lead their worship ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity to develop a church worship culture. Below are the requirements and responsibilities we have identified for this role:

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct, oversee and pastor the worship community of Word of Grace Church in the two worship services including all production and video venues.

  • Serve as a member of the Pastoral Team who disciples and equips members of WOG

  • Build fresh, engaging, and God-glorifying Sunday worship services that are more “God-centered” than “me-centered” and prepare people for hearing and responding to the Word of God.

  • Develop and mentor members of the worship team, student band, and some of the media team to help reach their maximum potential.

  • Provide oversight of the worship culture for the entire church, not necessarily leading worship in each venue but helping to build teams and speaking into the worship of all age groups.

  • Build relationships in order to recruit, equip, and empower effective ministry teams.

  • Provide oversight to the worship ministry administration including annual worship budget.

  • Develop the “community” of worship team vocalists and musicians relationally through special gatherings and opportunities (i.e. Community Group, Fun Nights).

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Abilities

  • A person who seeks to solve problems, not just identify them and is able to make the decisions necessary with a positive attitude.

  • Someone who has excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and is able to maintain a professional appearance and preparedness.

  • Highly motivated leader who can function in a high capacity leadership culture as an initiator with a lot of freedom.

  • Someone who is well organized but can be flexible in a team setting, while still being able to meet deadlines.

  • Someone who is looking to not only function in a healthy team but build a healthy team of their own to support the church as a whole, not just their own ministry.

  • Loves and enjoys people, exhibiting a shepherd’s heart in their concern for the worship teams and the congregation as a whole through their personal relationship with Jesus.

Skills

  • Confidence in stage presence when speaking and leading.

  • Ability to lead worship with confident vocals while playing guitar or keys.

  • Utilizes Planning Center to schedule worship and media teams.

  • Proficiency in ProPresenter.

  • Proficient with the use of multitracks and Ableton.

  • Basic understanding of audio mixing.

  • Preferred candidates would also have knowledge in stage lighting design as well as lighting programs, though not required.

  • Education

    • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though not required.

  • Experience

    • At least 2 years of full time worship leading experience previously at a church of similar size and style is ideal.
