Board of Trustees unanimously approve extension to President David Crawford’s term
09-13-2022
Dear Friends,
In this season of change and transition, I want to first express my gratitude to each of you for your dedicated service to our beloved Seminary. We know that change is a part of all of our lives, and understand that with change there is always some uncertainty.
It is my pleasure to share with you that today the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the recommendation of the Executive Committee to extend President David Crawford’s term as President for one additional year through 2024. I can also report that he has humbly and happily agreed to this extension.
Over the last six years, together we have embarked on a vision for McCormick that has created an impact on the role of theological education in our society. Our focus has been to expand our mission directly into the communities and congregations we serve, and to do so from a strong financial foundation. The proposed sale of our property to the University of Chicago and eventual relocation within the Hyde Park/Woodlawn/Bronzeville communities allows us the freedom to ensure a future true to McCormick’s values, but unencumbered by physical location.
As we move toward our third century of service, the Board concluded that David’s leadership in helping finalize the sale and plan for our future space needs is critical to ensure continuity through this period of change.
We are grateful for David’s leadership and for all who devote their energy and support to McCormick. We have accomplished so much over the last year, and it is our hope that ensuring continuity of leadership into 2024 will provide the momentum to sustain our progress and prepare the way for a successful presidential search which will re-commence in late spring/early summer next year.
With gratitude,
Connie Lindsey
