Craig Satterley to deliver Wardlaw Lectures*

The ACTS Doctor of Ministry in Preaching Program, administered on the joint campus of McCormick Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), will be hosting the 2010 Don M. Wardlaw Lectures entitled, Preaching Jesus Not Oprah: Proclaiming Christ as Savior with the Rev. Dr. Craig Satterlee, Dean of the ACTS D.Min. in Preaching Program, on Monday and Tuesday, July 5-6, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Augustana Chapel, 1100 E. 55th St. in Hyde Park. He will also be preaching at a worship service in the chapel the following day, July 7, at 11:30 a.m.

Author, preacher, pastor, teacher, conference speaker, and congregational consultant, Dr. Satterlee serves as Professor of Homiletics at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Dean of the ACTS Doctor of Ministry in Preaching Program.  As one colleague attests, Satterlee  “belongs to the relatively small group of working homileticians whose work can justifiably be said to have changed the agenda of the discipline.” His books are described as “superb examples of practical theology, remaining fully theological while engaging on-the-ground realities in the life of the church.”

One of the leading doctoral programs dedicated to the discipline and craft of homiletics, the ACTS D.Min. in Preaching program is ecumenical in nature and benefits from the world class scholarship and practical experience of seven member institutions of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools.
