McCormick to Offer New Degree Program Beginning in Fall 2014

McCormick Theological Seminary has received approval from the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) to offer the Master of Arts in Ministry (MAM) degree.  The program will be offered in the fall of 2014.  This new degree provides basic theological education to lay and ordained ministers for whom the Master of Divinity is not required by their churches or denominations, lay leaders, and those serving as commissioned elders or licensed pastors who are interested in general or specialized forms of ministry.  

The Dean of Faculty Dr. Luis Rivera stated: “The Master of Arts in Ministry degree will prepare students to think critically and constructively, serve effectively in congregational ministry, communicate effectively and exhibit cross cultural competence. This degree program requires coursework in biblical studies, theology, church history and the arts of ministry. The program consists of 16 courses including a supervised practice in a ministerial setting.  Financial aid is available for students who meet the requirements.”
