05-09-2017

The 10th president of McCormick Theological Seminary, Dr. Frank M. Yamada will give his last address to the McCormick community as the graduation speaker at its 183rd commencement service on May 13, 2017. In January, Dr. Yamada announced his decision to become executive director of the Association of Theological Schools, ATS. As the accrediting body for theological schools in the U.S. and Canada, ATS works to improve and enhance theological education for the benefit of communities of faith and the broader public. Dr. Yamada, who has served on the ATS board since 2014, will begin his new role with ATS in July.

Dr. Yamada came to McCormick in 2008 as associate professor of Hebrew Bible and director of the Center for Asian Ministries. In 2011, he was elected president of McCormick, the first Asian American to lead a Presbyterian Church (USA) seminary.

McCormick's commencement exercises will be held Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 5472 S. Kimbark Ave. in Chicago. A reception will immediately follow in McCormick's McGaw Common Room.
