Every May, McCormick hosts a spiritually-vibrant reception for the graduating students of color.
The Centers of African American Ministries and Black Church Studies, Asian American Ministries and the Study of Latin@Theology and Ministry at McCormick host a spiritually-vibrant reception for the graduating students of color. The reception, which is open to the entire community, begins with a feast of African American, Asian, and Hispanic foods. The feast is followed by an intimate program which includes prayers from local clergy, African American music, a moment of reflection by each graduate, the presentation of stoles, and a charge to move boldly into God’s work. The reception grew out of a traditional that was established by the African American Ministries and Black Church Students and the Pan African Student Organization. This year approximately 34 students of color graduated from McCormick’s Master's level and Doctoral programs.
