Campbell explores Christian faith, religious pluralism in lecture series

The Rev. Dr. Cynthia M. Campbell, President of McCormick Theological Seminary, will deliver the third annual Heartland Lectures at the Heartland Presbyterian Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 12-13. The event is sponsored by the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation.

Entitled "Being Faithful People in a Multi-Faith World: Implications of Religious Diversity for Christian Discipleship," the lectures draw in part on a body of research and scholarship that Campbell developed for several years and published in the form of a book, A Multitude of Blessings: A Christian Approach to Religious Diversity (Westminster John Knox, 2007). In her book, Campbell surveys and critiques common approaches to religious diversity and posits the idea of diversity as part of “God's providential plan for humankind.”

Campbell became President of McCormick Theological Seminary in 1995. Prior to her appointment, she served as senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Salinas, Kansas, and, prior to that, on the faculty of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
