José Morales
Rev. Dr. José Morales is the newly called Professor of Latinx Studies at Chicago Theological Seminary (beginning Fall 2020). Before coming to CTS, Professor Morales held a joint appointment at Claremont School of Theology, as assistant professor of Historical and Comparative Theology, and at Disciples Seminary Foundation (Claremont, CA), as Director of Pastoral Formation.
Morales holds degrees from Claremont School of Theology (PhD), McCormick Theological Seminary (MDiv), and Judson University in Elgin, IL (BA). An ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), his ministry experience is broad, including wider denominational leadership, congregational ministry, advocacy, community organizing, and education.
Morales is married to Rev. Daphne M. Gascot Arias, also an ordained minister with the Disciples of Christ and a PhD student (Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies). They share life and laughs with their four-year old daughter, Daphne Magnolia.
