Stacy Williams is a career educator who understands children who are hungry, displaced, spending long hours alone, experiencing loss of a caregiver, or afraid to play outside, have a hard time focusing on reading or math. This is at the center of Stacy Williams’ work as a School Coach with the Trauma Responsive Educational Practices team at the University of Chicago. With over twenty years of experience as a K-12 classroom teacher, administrator, district leader, and instructional coach, training educators to understand the neurological and physiological effects of trauma on the brain and body, respond in meaningful ways and build resilience for themselves and the students they seek to serve is her passion. Stacy holds a Masters of Arts in Education in Trauma and Resilience in Education from Concordia University, a Professional Educator License from Antioch University, and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Westmont College. Stacy’s research interests are in the areas of developing trauma responsiveness and resilience in the higher education setting, among communities of faith, and in non-traditional educational settings.
