Barbara Ann Wilson currently serves as the Director, Collaboration and Community Partnerships for the Presbytery of Chicago, Presbyterian Church (U. S. A.). In this role she models the presbytery’s core values of connecting, listening, equipping and supporting, to facilitate building sustainable collaborative partnerships with leaders of the 90 congregations and community stakeholders in within Chicago and surrounding suburbs. She is a catalyst for healthy relationship building, leader equipping, and community engagement to promote enhancing vitality and strengthening mission for community development and redevelopment.
She is ordained as an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) and continues to serve on the ministerial staff of a Chicago area congregation. She has served for over 25 years as a staff minister, senior pastor, and local, regional and international denominational positions, appointed and elected.
Her first career was in the federal criminal justice and child welfare systems and she holds B. A. and M.S degrees in Criminal Justice and Justice Administration, respectively. She received the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from McCormick Theological Seminary.
Continuing professional development is a priority as she has completed additional training in conflict mediation, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma-informed curriculum for faith communities, small group facilitation methods, nonprofit boot-camp, and transitional ministry. She is an adjunct professor (Mission, Ministry, Leadership) for the Doctor of Ministry programs at McCormick Theological and Bexley Seabury Seminaries in Chicago. She is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and has called Chicago home for 33 years. She endeavors to live with integrity and joy.
