Breathe In… Breathe Out!

Breathe In… Breathe Out!

We did it, we made it to the end of the semester. Although it might not be the end that we all hoped for, it is the end anyway. Looking back, this semester has been tough, On both our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Reflecting on this, I would like to take a minute and just breathe…

I breathe in the joy and new friendships I made in the semester, and breathe out every tension that has been building up gradually. I breathe in all the good things I have learned that I will never unlearn, and breathe out every moment I ever doubted myself.

I breathe in the names of friends, family, and friends of friends, who have been affected by the pandemic in one way or another: I breathe in the names Ahmoud, Reed, and those who have been failed by the systems of “justice”, and the hands of law which are supposed to protect and keep us safe – Here, I breathe out every anger, fear and anxiety that comes with the thoughts of not being safe in my own skin.

As the semester is coming to an end, today, I choose to breath in all the positive energy and breathe out the negative energy.

Breathe In… Breathe Out!
