WHAT EASTER MEANS FOR US NOW...

In the midst of a pandemic, there is Easter.

In the midst of chaos, there is a source for calm.

In the midst of fear, there is a reason for faith.

In the midst of uncertainty, there is blessed assurance.

In the midst of isolation, there is a friend.

In the midst of sickness, there is a balm in Gilead.

In the midst of death, there is one who has risen.

In the midst of dying, there is one who died for us.

In the midst of crying, there is one who will wipe every tear.

In the midst of loss, there is one who restores.

In the midst of crisis, there is Christ.

In the midst of it all, there is a Savior.

In the midst of a pandemic, there is Easter.

Personally, I think Easter is one of the most relevant Christian holidays. Usually I would go to church then later go for lunch with friends and family. However, this new “normal” has made me to take a step back and rethink. What does Easter mean for me now? By now I mean, being far from home and family, not being able to either go to church or for lunch with friends, now that everything has changed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Reflecting on this, Easter this year for me means healing, both spiritual, physical, mental and emotional.

The bible says “by his stripes we are healed”. Every stripe on the body of Jesus represents our all-round healing. Of course, not forgetting the fact that Christ himself suffered physical, spiritual and emotional abuse, not only on his journey to the cross, but also while on it. He’s been there, He knows it. He knows how we are feeling when we can’t see, touch or hold our loved ones, when we are too anxious to face a new day, when we are too scared not knowing what to do next. The good news is that, he did not stay at that dark place, he rose again on the third day! Because of this, I am assured that we too can rise together in healing, healing for our self and the world at large. This is what Easter means for me now.
