Presbyterian Church of Barrington is looking for a Director of Children and Youth Ministries to provide leadership and support of the Christian faith formation of children ages birth to the twelfth grade and leadership and partnership with parents, the Children’s Ministry Committee, volunteers, staff, and Pastors.
Principal Responsibilities:
Ensures all programs are grounded in our Reformed/Presbyterian beliefs and align with the overall vision for the Church
Sunday School: choose curriculum and develop programming for Sunday School and Sunday Youth Group.
Organize social activities for Youth outside of Sunday School hours.
Seek approval of curriculum from Session
Supplements Sunday School curriculum with virtual components as needed.
Creates and distributes virtual take home curriculum to help educate outside of Sunday School curriculum
Recruits/trains/supports teachers, and assists teachers with students and classrooms, as needed
Works with Associate Pastor and the Christian Education Committee in the development of the Milestones Program, and teaches classes, as needed
Works with Associate Pastor to select the appropriate mid-week program, recruits/trains leaders, coordinates with key volunteers, and teaches, as needed
Schedules and supervises paid childcare providers
Provides a “Time with Young Disciples” message at the Pastor’s request, orders/implements the presentation of the Bibles for 4th graders, coordinates ongoing worship programs, assists with special worship service needs, and provides oversight of the worship bags
Oversees the implementation of the child/youth protection policy including application, screening process, background checks, and training of all staff, church officers, and volunteers working with children, attends program/staff meetings
Serves on the Christian Education Committee, Children’s Ministry Committee and Youth Committee
Publishes children’s articles in various communications outlets of the church
Maintain the Children and Youth Ministries budget
Performs other reasonably and properly assigned duties assigned by the Pastor
